Everyone has the right to be happy, regardless of their origin, social status, age, gender, sexuality, or life situation. Happiness is a fundamental human need and significantly contributes to our well-being, satisfaction, and quality of life.

When given the choice between judo, swimming, and soccer, the decision probably rarely falls on the first option. But that's exactly what Timo decided on at the age of 5 and has remained true to himself and his sport ever since.

The sport of judo is indeed impressive due to its diversity, which is why it's hardly surprising that Timo, aside from his athletic activities, also indulges in a variety of other hobbies. Whether on new adventures by bike or simply relaxing with a book on the couch - Timo is enthusiastic about many things. Only such a hidden talent he probably prefers to keep to himself for now.

Has Timo piqued your interest in him and the sport of judo? Then you'll find more information about both in the following lines.

Fun Facts

Which song do you like to listen to most during recovery?
Most of the time, I don't listen to music. If I do listen to something, it should definitely be something calmer.

With which person would you like to swap a day? Why?
I think I would trade places with Harry Potter. I would be interested to know what it's like to be able to do magic.

Who is your greatest role model and why?
My greatest role model is Ole Bischof. He won gold at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and silver in 2012 in London.

What is your hidden talent?
I think I sing quite well. So far, however, very few people know what it sounds like. Maybe that's for the best, who knows. :D

We're just among ourselves here: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that no one knows yet!
I love looking into a stocked fridge!

Timo in the Interview

1. What sport do you play and how did you get into it?

At the age of five, I started judo. My parents have always placed great importance on my two siblings and me playing sports. It was important to them that we could go to the swimming pool alone, be team players, and learn to defend ourselves. Therefore, they chose the sports swimming, soccer, and judo. I liked judo the best and have stuck with it to this day.

2. What makes your sport special?

Judo has many advantages. For one, judo is very diverse. It includes a wide range of throwing, holding, lever, and choking techniques that can be applied both standing and on the ground. Furthermore, judo not only promotes physical abilities but also contributes to personality development. Character traits such as respect, politeness, courage, and self-control are practiced both on and off the mat.

3. What has been your greatest sporting achievement so far?

Every success I have achieved is unique and holds special meaning for me. However, I would describe my greatest success as the bronze medal at the U23 European Championship 2018.

4. How do you deal with the "hole" after a big competition?

I am fortunate that both my friends and my family fully support me. If I "fall into a hole" after a big competition, they always help me to get out of it.

5. What is your favorite hobby besides your sport?

I have many hobbies. I like cycling, reading, and going to the sauna. But most of all, I still love being in the kitchen regularly and cooking.

Everything about Recovery

1. What does perfect recovery look like for you?
The perfect regeneration looks different for each person. For me, a healthy and balanced diet, good physiotherapy care, as well as mental and physical recovery are most important.

2. When do you like to use your Reboots the most?
I prefer to use my Reboots right after training.

3. How important is the topic of "regeneration" to you?
Regeneration is an essential part of any training and competition program, regardless of the sport or type of physical activity. Especially in competitive sports, we rely on optimal regeneration. Intensive training sessions and competitions often lead to micro-injuries in the muscles, from which we need to recover. Proper regeneration prevents overtraining and reduces the risk of injury.

4. What is your secret tip for using the Reboots?
Proper preparation and follow-up are crucial to optimize performance, prevent injuries, and maximize the training effect. First, good time management should not be neglected. Plan your training sessions and set fixed training times to establish a regular and consistent training routine. Allow sufficient time for warming up and cooling down. For me, this usually takes as much time as the actual training itself. Furthermore, mental attitude is of great importance. Approach training with a positive attitude and motivation, and see it as an opportunity for personal development and improvement. Lastly, it is important to take recovery measures after training. Use compression clothing, electrical stimulation, or passive recovery devices like the Reboots to support recovery. With proper regeneration, you can promote the recovery of your muscles and your entire body, prevent injuries, increase performance, and optimally prepare for the next training session.

5. What do you occupy yourself with while you are in the Reboots?
I usually try not to distract myself with other things. Just doing nothing for a while to really "wind down" both physically and mentally.

6. What does the perfect day look like for you?
There are many ways to make the most of a day. For me, it's not about the day's schedule, but about the people who spend the day with me. I prefer to have my friends and family around me.
