Recovery isn't just for athletes. It starts much earlier.
Esther is a physiotherapist and has worked in Hamburg for four years. She has completed additional training in equipment-based exercise therapy, manual therapy, and sports physiotherapy, and feels right at home in her sports-focused practice.
Esther and podcast host Jasper met through the Hamburg Sea Devils, a team in the European League of Football. Both worked with the team without crossing paths all season. Their first game day together was all the more chaotic.
“Sleep is one of the most important factors in Recovery.”

Their practical tips for everyday life
No big programs, just small routines Esther recommends to her patients, too:

- Water: A simple morning trick with a bottle.
- Movement: Two minutes you can take for yourself at the office every two hours.

Recovery in Practice: Why It Often Gets Overlooked
According to Esther, Recovery still isn’t a major topic in physiotherapy either. The healthcare system focuses more on reacting than preventing, so the subject usually comes up only when patients ask about it directly.
There’s one exception in every patient assessment: sleep. As one of the most important factors in Recovery, it’s always discussed, because there’s often room to improve it.
