Sabrina Cakmakli

“I can only recommend the Reboots. Especially for competitive athletes or ambitious sports enthusiasts, it is an incredibly helpful tool to accelerate your recovery and to be fit again as quickly as possible for the next training session.”

Whether Sabrina really needs coffee in the morning to wake up is questionable, but she still doesn't forgo the hot beverage. For the freeskier, the term "rest" is only meaningful in the context of regeneration.

Sabrina's optimal day? It includes many activities and is buzzing with energy. After many successful jumps on the halfpipe, she switches to the mountain bike, goes for a ride, and ends the day with a delicious dinner with friends or the team.

What Sabrina loves about her sport, how she deals with the void after a big competition, or who her role models are, she reveals to us in the Reboots Athlete Spotlight.

Fun Facts

Off to a deserted island - which 3 things would you take with you and why? My Reboots of course ;-) a bikini and a coffee machine ha ha ;-)

We're just among ourselves here: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that no one knows yet! I can't go without coffee in the morning. I never watch movies, I always get bored. I usually fall asleep on movie dates. If I'm not physically active, I can become quite unpleasant.

Which dish can't you resist? And why? Any variation of vegetarian bowls.

Sabrina in the Interview

1. What sport do you play and how did you get into it?

I am a freeskier in the halfpipe discipline. Growing up in a family passionate about winter sports, I first stood on skis at the age of 2. At 7, I switched to snowboarding and thought I would never ski again, because snowboarding is "much cooler." But around the age of 14, I discovered my love for freestyle skiing, and since then, you won't find me without my skis ;-)

2. What makes your sport special?

The special thing about our sport is the freedom and creativity. Every athlete has their own style and can perform the tricks they want to show. We are a great community that thrives on camaraderie and solidarity.

3. What has been your greatest (sporting) achievement so far?

Participation in 3 Olympic Games and the X Games in Aspen. World Cup podium, Junior World Champion.

4. What motivates you to get up every day?

The motivation to work on myself every day and become a bit better. Whether in the weight room, on skis, or in acrobatics training. Even in summer, you have the big goals in mind every day, for which you work daily. X Games participation, World Cup podiums, Olympic Games, etc. that's usually motivation enough :)

5. Who is your greatest role model and why?

I have always been very inspired by Lindsey Vonn's mentality as an athlete. In our field, it was Kaya Turski, Sarah Burke, and Jamie Anderson, three pioneers who made our sport what it is today. However, I am also inspired by many of my friends who train with me or practice the same sport at the highest level.

6. How do you deal with the "hole" after a big competition

I try to set new goals for myself relatively quickly. These don't always have to be athletic; they can also be goals in other areas like studies, etc. Back then, after the 2018 Olympic Games, I had a relatively long phase where I really couldn't motivate myself to train. Every day was arduous, and I no longer knew what I was actually training for. Fortunately, I had this better under control after the 2022 Olympics. It's just incredibly important to keep setting new goals and to have precise plans on how to achieve them. It's important to have a training structure and a plan every day. A supportive environment can also be very helpful in this regard.

Everything about Recovery

1. How important is the topic of "regeneration" to you?

The topic of regeneration is extremely important. We competitive athletes often neglect regeneration. I am also often a person who always believes she doesn't need breaks, until I then realize the hard way that I probably do need them.

2. What does perfect recovery look like for you?

Of course, it always depends a bit on the situation and what resources are available to us. But it can range from physiotherapy, ice baths to sauna or simply spending a relaxing day with friends. However, what is always included are my Reboots lite. And they are used daily :)

3. How did you become aware of Reboots back then?

I tested the Reboots back then at the X Games and used them frequently and was totally thrilled. Then I came across you on Instagram through other athletes and sought contact with you. Now I have my Reboots Go Lite with me always and everywhere and am super happy to have you as a partner by my side.

4. When do you like to use your Reboots the most?

Preferably after training. After a long day on the mountain, but also after long journeys or between long flights, it is the best way to get the circulation in the body going again.

5. What do you occupy yourself with while lying in the Reboots?

Phew, I mostly play around on my phone or watch training videos from the day. Or I read a book and just relax.

6. Your secret tip for using Reboots?

I prefer to use Program C when the Boots inflate evenly and then deflate again. I usually sit in the Boots for about 20 minutes and am at strength 12.
