Reboots: Rennradfahrer auf Landstraße

Julian Wüst

"Regeneration is extremely important to me. Especially with high training volumes, regeneration should definitely be given high attention! Only those who recover very well can also perform!"

Triathlon – a combination of swimming, cycling, and running – is not just a sport, but a passion for the German athlete Julian Wüst. His journey began with an unconventional New Year's resolution and an ambitious goal: participating in an Ironman. A decision that ignited his passion for the sport and has since challenged him to master and optimize three completely different disciplines.

In the interview, Julian provides insights into his motivation, his Recovery routine, and his passions outside of sports - but read for yourself!

Fun Facts

Which song do you like to listen to most during recovery? No specific song, but the artist Ben Böhmer has been my go-to for years!!

Your favorite place for regeneration with Reboots is.... My bed or on the couch! However, I could also very well imagine it in the mountains with a good view. However, one would have to carry the Reboots up there ;)

With which person would you like to swap a day? Why? I think either with Wout van Aert or with Kristian Blummenfelt! Why? I would love to know and feel what a day as a professional athlete is like!

Who is your biggest role model? I believe in Tadej Pogacar. I find it absolutely impressive how someone can be at such a world-class level at such a young age!

Off to a deserted island - which 3 things would you take with you and why? If you can ride a racing bike there: 1. Racing bike 2. Surfboard 3. Coffee machine

We're just among ourselves here: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that no one knows yet! I can amazingly imitate a howler monkey hahahaha

When I'm not training, you can find me... at the desk and while studying, because that also has to be done!

Julian in the interview

1. What sport do you play and how did you get into it?

Triathlon. The whole thing started from a crazy New Year's resolution. At the end of 2022, my previous sport, weightlifting, became too monotonous for me, so I longed for a new challenge. Then came the decision to do an Ironman!

2. What makes your sport special?

For me, the challenge is to train and optimize three completely different disciplines. In my opinion, this diversity is found in very few sports!

3. What has been your greatest sporting achievement so far?

Unfortunately, not yet! But I'm on the verge of achieving my first personal successes in sports!

4. What is your hobby outside of sports?

In fact, sports are my absolute passion and I would love to do nothing but sports all day. If cafe-hopping counts as a hobby, I would consider that my hobby.

5. How do you deal with the "hole" after a big competition?

Consciously take a break. You have worked towards a goal for a long time, and now is the time to regenerate and recharge. Basically, I would say: Just consciously go through the slump!

Everything about Recovery

1. What does perfect regeneration look like for you

Healthy and restful sleep is absolutely the key to perfect regeneration. This is supported by healthy and nutrient-rich nutrition. But the Reboots can also be perfectly regenerated in a busy everyday life!

2. When do you like to use your Reboots the most?

Directly after sports and/or in the evening to unwind!

3. How important is the topic of "regeneration" to you?

Extremely important. Especially with high training volumes, regeneration should definitely be given high attention! Only those who recover very well can also perform!

4. What are your top 3 tips and tricks for preparing for training and subsequent recovery?

Healthy and nutritious diet, 2. Music as a motivation booster 3. Stretching, Reboots, sleep

5. How did you become aware of Reboots back then?

About social media. I saw there which athletes use Reboots!

6. What do you occupy yourself with while you are in the Reboots?

Either I study alongside my studies or I enjoy the time to reflect and maybe not have to think about anything for once!

7. What does the perfect day look like for you?

Get up. Good coffee (very important). Have breakfast and then, preferably in the best weather, be on the bike all day. In the evening, pizza and a good movie. Dreamy!

8. What else would you like to share with the Reboots community?

Just a question that has often made me ponder. How do you know that something isn't for you, even though you've never tried it? Just start and see where the journey takes you!
