On stage with Lisa Meiswinkel
Where does bodybuilding fit in? Is it sport? Is it a show? Or does the truth lie somewhere in between?
Lisa Meiswinkel is certain that bodybuilding as a presentation sport is more than just lifting weights, but also requires a lot of discipline and work beyond that. So it's no wonder that she herself sees structure and order as the key to success.
But how important is the topic of regeneration in bodybuilding? And how does Lisa integrate her reboots into her daily bodybuilding routine?
You will find the answers in the following sections, where one or two secrets about bodybuilding will be revealed.
"Keep stress low and recovery high. Those who manage this will also make progress in their training."

Interview with Lisa
1. What sport do you do and how did you get into it?
I do bodybuilding and have been in the wellness class since 2017. In 2016 I started doing stage sports (at the time in bikini fitness) and have stuck with it ever since. I started weight training in 2013 alongside my high school diploma - more because I enjoy the sport and am passionate about building and shaping my body the way I like it and to keep myself fit and healthy. Through acquaintances, the idea of competition and the sport of "bodybuilding" came more and more into focus and I just wanted to know what it would look like if I presented my form on stage. On the other hand, I was actually always more of an introverted type of person. So it was a big step for me to get on stage, but I really wanted to prove it to myself.
2. What makes your sport special?
Bodybuilding is a presentation sport. There is a lot more to it than just exercising. It is about being consistent 24/7 - 365 days a year to get better. This includes not only strength training and cardio, but also managing your diet/nutrition correctly, regeneration and enough sleep, mobility and practicing the right presentation. To do this, you should always stay up to date with what the judges want to see.
3. What has been your greatest sporting success so far?
I have already qualified four times for the biggest and most important show in the sport: Mr. Olympia. I was able to reach 11th place here in 2023, which is incredibly valuable to me and I am very grateful to be able to take part in these events.
4. How do you deal with the "slump" after a big competition?
Normally, there is no "slump" because just as things were before the competition, they continue afterwards. When the current competition season is over, I start the reverse diet. I also see this as progress towards reaching my goal. I say yes 365 days a year.
Fun facts
What song do you like to listen to during recovery?
VERY DIFFERENT! But more like deep house/lounge music.
What is your favorite hobby besides your sport?
I love posing training, whether I'm posing for myself or giving posing lessons to others and being able to pass on my passion. That is absolutely my passion. Otherwise, I just spend my free time with the people I love and enjoy the time and peace with my boyfriend.
If I don't train, you'll find me...
In the studio for personal training and posing sessions, on the laptop at work or actually a lot in the kitchen cooking.
Your favorite place for regeneration with reboots is....?
Our couch.
How did you first become aware of reboots?
I've already had the chance to test the boots after a massage and I thought they were great. Especially because you can use them yourself and take them with you everywhere.
Off to a deserted island - which 3 things will you take with you and why?
My boyfriend! And I think I need sunscreen? I'm white as a sheet :D and designer whey protein. If my boyfriend isn't a problem then I also need the Reboots for daily relaxation.
Everything about recovery
1. What does the perfect regeneration look like for you
Good and sufficient sleep! Very important. This is followed by mobility training, as this also promotes recovery enormously, as well as massages. What is super valuable here: the reboots. Because I can use them anytime and anywhere.
2. When do you prefer to use your reboots?
Preferably on complete rest days. For me, that's usually Sundays. No training, no cardio, no appointments. Or when I notice my legs need a bit more rest and are tired from the three leg workouts a week.
3. How important is the topic of “regeneration” for you?
Regeneration is the most important thing. If you don't regenerate properly, the next training session won't be effective enough to help you progress. Every training session should be consistent and effective enough. That's why regeneration is always a top priority!
4. What are your top 3 tips and tricks for preparing for training and subsequent recovery?
Before training, warm up by cycling for a few minutes and maybe even stretching. If you have tension, you can even roll up your muscles a little with a fascia roller. After training, I sometimes walk on the treadmill for a few minutes to get rid of the lactate from training.
5. What does an optimal day look like for you?
Structured and organized. Routines are very important to me and lead to success, I would say. Waking up early in the morning, taking a short morning walk in the fresh air. Then some laptop work. Training, a short nap, and in the evening, my cardio on the spinning bike and mobility exercises.
