Timo Cavelius: Judoka with heart and soul
If you have the choice between judo, swimming and soccer, very few people are likely to choose the former. But that's exactly what Timo chose at the age of 5 and has remained true to himself and his sport ever since.
Judo is a sport that is extremely diverse, which is why it is hardly surprising that Timo has a wide range of other hobbies in addition to his sporting activities. Whether he's off on new adventures on his bike or relaxing on the couch with a book - Timo is really enthusiastic about many things. The only thing he prefers to keep to himself is a hidden talent.
Has Timo sparked your interest in himself and the sport of judo? Then you'll find more information about both in the following lines.
"Everyone has the right to be happy, regardless of their background, social status, age, gender, sexuality or life situation. Happiness is a fundamental human need and contributes significantly to our well-being, our satisfaction and our quality of life."

Timo in an interview
1. what sport do you do and how did you get into it?
I started judo at the age of five. My parents have always attached great importance to my two siblings and I doing sports. It was important to them that we could go to the swimming pool on our own, that we were able to work in a team and that we learned to defend ourselves. So they chose swimming, soccer and judo. I liked judo the best and have stuck with it to this day.
2. what makes your sport special?
Judo has many advantages. For one thing, judo is very diverse. It includes a wide range of throwing, holding, leverage and choking techniques that can be used both standing and on the ground. Furthermore, judo not only promotes physical skills, but also contributes to personality development. Character traits such as respect, politeness, courage and self-control are practiced both on and off the mat.
3. what has been your greatest sporting success to date?
Every success I have achieved is unique and has a special meaning for me. However, I would describe my greatest success as the bronze medal at the 2018 European U23 Championships.
4. how do you deal with the "hole" after a big competition?
I'm lucky that both my friends and my family are completely behind me. If I fall into a "hole" after a big competition, they always help me to get out of it.
5. what is your favorite hobby besides your sport?
I have many hobbies. I like cycling, reading and going to the sauna. But my favorite thing is to be in the kitchen cooking regularly.
Fun Facts
What is your favorite song to listen to during regeneration? I don't usually listen to music. If I do listen to something, it should definitely be a little quieter.
Who would you like to swap places with for a day? Why? I think I would swap places with Harry Potter. I'd be interested to see what it's like to be able to do magic.
Who is your biggest role model and why? My biggest role model is Ole Bischof. He won gold at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and silver in London in 2012.
What is your hidden talent? I think I sing quite well. But so far very few people know what it sounds like. Maybe it's better that way, who knows. :D
It's just us here: tell us a fun fact about yourself that nobody knows yet! I love looking into a full fridge!
Everything about recovery
1. what does the perfect recovery look like for you?
Perfect recovery is different for every person. For me, a healthy and balanced diet, good physiotherapy and mental and physical recovery are the most important things.
2. when do you prefer to use your Reboots?
I prefer to use my Reboots directly after training.
3. how important is regeneration for you?
Regeneration is an essential part of any training and competition program, regardless of the sport or type of physical activity. Especially in competitive sports, we depend on optimal regeneration. Intense training sessions and competitions often lead to micro-injuries in the muscles from which we need to recover. Proper regeneration prevents overtraining and reduces the risk of injury.
4. what is your insider tip for using Reboots?
Proper preparation and recovery is crucial to optimize performance, avoid injury and maximize the training effect. First of all, good time management should not be neglected. Plan your training sessions and set fixed training times to establish a regular and consistent training routine. Allow sufficient time for the warm-up and cool-down. For me, this usually takes just as much time as the actual training itself. Mental attitude is also very important. Go into training with a positive attitude and motivation and see it as an opportunity for personal development and improvement. Finally, it is important to take recovery measures after training. Use compression garments, electrostimulation or passive recovery devices such as the Reboots to aid recovery. With the right recovery, you can promote the recovery of your muscles and your entire body, prevent injuries, increase performance and optimally prepare for the next training session.
5. what do you do while you are in Reboots?
I usually try not to distract myself with other things. Just do nothing to really "wind down" both physically and mentally.
6. what does the perfect day look like for you?
There are many ways to make the most of a day. For me, it's not about planning the day, but about the people who spend the day with me. I prefer to have my friends and family around me.
