ANNE'S IMPRESSIONS OF THE RACE

To learn more about Anne's experiences and impressions during the race, we asked her a few questions. Here are her answers:

What was the unexpectedly most beautiful moment during the Challenge Roth that had nothing to do with the competition itself? Perhaps a smile from a spectator or a special view?

"Well, it may not be unexpected, but I am always fascinated by the unimaginable warmth that everyone in Roth receives. I met a homestay family for my bike mechanic for the first time. They were around 80 years old and welcomed us with such naturalness, youthful open-mindedness, and warmth that I have never experienced before."

When you have a brief moment for self-reflection during the race, what do you think about? Are there specific thoughts or mantras that help you stay focused?

"In the race, every second when a hint of doubt or exhaustion arose, I told myself: Today is your day... the day you've been training for so many years, and the chance may never come again like this."

Is there a specific meal or favorite dish that you treat yourself to after such a strenuous race? What does your ultimate post-race cheat day look like?

"Even in Roth, the VIP lounge is an absolute culinary highlight. After the race, I ate my way through the offerings from left to right."

If you're not currently competing in the Challenge Roth in world record time, what else do you do in 8 hours, 2 minutes, and 38 seconds? How do you spend a relaxing day away from training and competitions?

"I am currently enjoying my quiet, peaceful life in my adopted home of Lanzarote, surrounded by people who are very dear to me."

With her new world record at the Challenge Roth, Anne Haug has not only emphasized her exceptional position in triathlon but also shown that hard work, a positive attitude, and sufficient recovery can lead to extraordinary performances. Congratulations, Anne! We are proud to have you as a Reboots athlete by our side.
